Idea Pins are THE new must-have format on Pinterest. Users may still know this under the name “Story Pins”.

The Idea Pins consist of a maximum of 20 pages and are a kind of mini-blog. They are perfect for tutorials, tips, and any content that needs to add value. Each Idea Pin is assigned to a specific topic and aims to inspire users, brighten up their lives with simple things and offer real added value.

Unlike the familiar Stories on other platforms, this is a long-term format designed to provide sustainable content.

Idea Pins are a very high reach format where followers on Pinterest are becoming increasingly important.

How do you create an Idea Pin?

Once the Idea Pins have been selected, images and videos can be selected directly from the app or from the prepared content in the gallery (note: a video can be a maximum of 60 seconds long).

The Idea Pins must consist of at least 5 pages and cannot exceed 20. Once all videos and images are selected, you can start directly with the design. There are several options here:

Text

Titles are created here that briefly explain the content to the user. This is particularly suitable for users who, for example, play videos without sound, but are still interested in the content.

Music

To accompany the videos and images, you can choose from a variety of music files.

Ghost-Mode

This function must be recorded directly in the app. It enables smooth transitions between two videos. This is suitable, for example, for before-and-after results in the form of videos.

Mark

For creators as well as for companies, there is the possibility to mark other profiles. Thus, for example, cooperation partners can be indicated or one’s own profile can be linked in order to introduce oneself to followers and interested parties.

Publication

Shortly before publication, the cover, the title and the pinboard are selected. There is also the option here to display details of the content in the form of bullet points. In addition, tags can be added to the pin in order to define the target group and to be able to reach targeted people.

If the Idea Pin is to be published at a later date, there is also the option here to first save it as a draft. Even after publication, additional pages can be corrected, new ones added or the order changed. Only the cover cannot be adjusted afterwards.

In the meantime, the goal on this platform is also to build up a strong community and to profit with the brand’s personality as well as to present it. The Idea Pins can generate a very large reach and many, potential followers are addressed by it. They are also suitable for publishing creative and value-added content without much effort.
