What are the advantages of fixing contributions for creators and companies?

A lot has been happening on Instagram lately. Time and again, the company tests minor and major changes to its platform and makes them available to a selected audience. In this way, Instagram checks whether the new features run well and are accepted by their users. Looking back at the last few weeks, some of you will certainly have noticed that Instagram has now introduced various new features for all users that have been on many wish lists for quite some time.

What is new?

Firstly, it is now possible to put more content into your reels, as the time limit has been increased from 60 to 90 seconds. This update creates real added value for many users. In addition, interactive stickers and the moderation function for the chat on Instagram Live have been introduced.

Another feature is the option to have more control over your own feed. Instagram allows users to decide in their own profile which three posts should be displayed at the top of the feed by pinning them.

With these new updates, Instagram users will have more options to control their accounts according to their needs. This function was already known from TikTok and Twitter. In the meantime, all Instagram users can also use this function for themselves.

How to use the pin-to-your-profile feature

The new pin-to-your-profile feature is easily found by going to your profile, selecting the post (can be a picture, video, or reel) you’d like to pin, and clicking on the three dots in the top right corner that represent the options menu. Then select the “Pin to Profile” box and you’ll have your first post pinned to the top of your profile. You can do this with up to three posts, which are then all in a row at the top of your profile. If you want to undo the whole thing, you can of course also do that by selecting “Unfix in profile”.

The added value of “Pin-to-your-Profile” for Creators

Creators in particular benefit greatly from the “Pin-to-your-Profile” function. Until now, it was unfortunately not possible to make special posts or moments visible in one’s own feed for a longer period of time, unless one had saved one’s story as a highlight. However, this resulted in a lot of highlights that were no longer up-to-date after some time. Now Instagram has improved and closed this gap. By pinning special and important posts, it is now possible to draw the attention of your followers to specific posts and make them visible for a longer period of time. All profile visitors can immediately see the top posts and access them. This allows you to better implement collaborations and gain more traction.

A useful tool for the engagement rate

Going viral with a post or a reel is a big challenge. The difficulty lies not only in creating the right content, but also in making the content available and visible in the feed for a longer period of time. Creators post something new every day, so the older posts move further down the feed. Once a content has received more views, you are faced with the dilemma of continuing to post something new or keeping the well-received content at the top of the feed. The new Instagram feature makes this a thing of the past. This will make it easier for many creators not to have to decide in the future, but to simply post content and organize it through the “pin-to-your-profile” feature. But there are already indications that Instagram will allow more creative leeway for its own feed in the future, so that a variable shifting of posts could be possible.

The added value of “Pin-to-your-Profile” for companies

The pin-to-your-profile feature gives businesses more flexibility. On their own feed, the first posts are the ones that are seen when a profile is called up and are accordingly clicked on by many Instagram users. With the “Pin-to-your-Profile” feature, companies can now determine which posts are important and should be seen by as many visitors to the profile as possible. In doing so, companies can inform about great new promotions, discounts or company news. But also vacancies can be better discovered by potential applicants and play an important role in recruiting. Even very practical things like opening hours can be communicated quickly and visibly.
